여성과 소수자, 혹은 제도적으로 이해될 수 없는 취향과문화적 움직임들에 대해서 연약한 서사형식을 빌어이야기하는 조은지는 견고한 신도시의 공간과시간 속에서 유연한 풍경을 만들어낼 퍼포먼스를기획한다. 작가는 ‘평촌’에서 받은 인상을 바탕으로그 공간을 개입해 들어갈 유기적 형태의 의상을제작한다. 그리고 퍼포먼스 전문가, 지역구성원들로구성된 80여명의 퍼포머들에게 착용하게 하여기성 사회의 문법으로는 이해할 수 없는 동작을진행하게 한다. 그들의 움직임은 느리게 걷거나,용인되지 않은 공간에 드러눕거나, 대규모로 자전거를타고 다니며 교통을 방해하는 식이다.계획도시가 그 구성원들에게 강요하는 행동원칙을위반하게 하는 작가의 퍼포먼스는 규칙적이고계획적인 삶을 살아가는 우리의 일상에 잔잔한 파문을일으킬 것이다. 조은지의 퍼포먼스는 개막당일 진행되며,퍼포먼스의 결과물은 리플렛으로 제작되어행사기간동안 인포메이션 데스크에 비치된다.

Borrowing from the format of slendernessof narrative about women, minorities, orsystematically incomprehensible tendenciesand cultural movements, Eunji Cho plans aperformance to create flexible scenery withinthe rigid space and time of a newly built city.The artist produces costumes of organic formbased upon her impressions of Pyeongchon.She then makes 80 or so participants,composing of specialists and local residents, towear those costumes and gets them to undergomotions which are incomprehensible by existingsociety’s standards. The participants’ motionswould comprise of walking ever so slowly,lying on prohibited spaces or riding bicyclesin large numbers to impede traffic. The artists’performance of making the participants toviolate behavioral conducts forced uponresidents by urban planning will create subtleripples in our regulated and planned daily lives.Eunji Cho’s performance is scheduled to takeplace on the opening day and the results of theperformance will be exhibited in informationbooths throughout the event.
